Modern Paths Boards Meditation Practice A lot of spiritual traditions — and many doctors — stress the benefits of daily meditation. How have we been able to integrate meditation in our lives? Has it been helpful? ![]() ![]() tobagganing - 04:56pm Nov 19, 2003 EST (# 7 of 16)
I meditate every morning. It help to center myself before I encounter other people. It is very important to be at peace with yourself and calm before you can expect the same from others. Mental and physical health are tightly knit, so when doctors recommend meditation, they know what they are talking about. It is a way to get in touch with what is going on inside your body.

Taking time just for yourself is crucial. So many people wake up, rush out the door, and go to work and never concentrate on themselves. Meditating, or just laying in bed for ten minutes to "regroup" is a terrific thing to remind you of your own value.

I think Linds is right. Taking time out to reflect on one's day is a very important thing. I wish i could get to a point that I could implement into every morning and evening, but I am just not there yet.

When I decided to commit myself to practise it was in the middle of the most hectic, stressful and emotional periods of my life. In fact, thats why I decided that I had better start meditating! With no time and many demands I committed to a simple 5 minutes a day - but every day with no exceptions. Within weeks I was stretching into 15 minutes and after 6 months 25 minutes or more per day.It seems that just starting small and maintaining consistency provided me with the energy and discipline I needed to continue. When you try "to be alone like that with yourself", why is it "almost scary.."?

I think in the US, there is so much, "noise" and things that we have to deal with that being with yourself and by yourself can seem scary. It seems like we all need blackberrys and cells and can not be left alone for anything.

You can meditate when you get up in the morning or meditate at night by reflecting on your day.

Meditating is great. I always daydream during the day but focused thinking allows me to become focused when I need it and refresh myself.

It is easy to meditate in the shower because there are no other distractions.
